Roland Allen Jr.

Sonny Allen age 75 passed away in his home of natural causes on January 20, 2018.

He was born in Alabama but called Charlotte North Carolina his home for most of his life. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather.

His light shined brighter than most. He was a vibrant soul, whose motto was “Life is Good!”. His positivity towards life was infectious. He was a born salesman and worked at the Charlotte Merchandise Mart for many years selling women’s apparel. He was a true survivor. He was more notably known as a marathon runner and 2 time cancer survivor.

He was preceded in death by his father Roland Benoit Allen Sr. and his mother Claire Hill Allen, his sister Sylvia Allen Graves. His survivors include his wife Candice H. Allen, brothers Jimmy Allen and Owen Allen. His children Sunday Allen Foley (husband Brandon and daughter Skye), Merrie Trauner and her family, Chuck Howser (daughter Lacey).

His Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at Trio Restaurant located 10709 McMullen Creek Parkway Charlotte NC 28226 from 2:30 to 4:30pm Sunday February 25, 2018
