William Forrest Burns Sr (75) of Charlotte, left this world to be with our Lord on May 5, 2016. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be truly missed more than he will ever know!
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jean. His son Bill Jr. (Holly) and their two children Fallon and Jaron. His daughter Crystal Maver (Michael) and their 5 children, (triplets) Melanee, Joshua, and Ian Rowley and Michael and Collin Maver.
Battalion Chief Bill Burns retired from the Charlotte Fire Dept. in 1994 after 30 years of dedication and service. As a Navy veteran, he not only served his community but proudly served his country. He was involved in many activities with the Matthews UMC as well as the Levine Senior Center where he spent most of his time after retirement. He was an avid Train enthusiast who traveled all over this country of ours, enjoying every moment.
This special and heroic man is much loved. He is someone who came from nothing and made a life of everything. Thank you for being what most people wish they could be, but very few achieve.
