Elbert Shands

ELBERT JOHN SHANDS, 66  of Charlotte, N.C. passed away peacefully on September 16, 2021 at NOVANT Medical Center, Huntersville, NC.
Elbert was born on June 10, 1955 in Charlotte, N.C. to the late James Allen Shands Sr. and the late Johnsie Olivia Shands.  Elbert was preceeded in death by his older brother James A. Shands Jr.(Jimmy) and Older sister Maglia Lee Shands Satler.
Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools was given the pleasure of educating  Elbert where he grew to love his classmates. Independence Sr. High granted a diploma for his achievements in 1973.  Keeping up with The Alumni of J.T. WILLIAMS became an  enjoyable past-time for Elbert.
Elbert  worked as a wine distributor before serving in the first  Desert Storm War with the United States ARMY.
After returning home from the war,  Elbert's love for family led him to become his brother  Jimmy's care giver until  his fight with cancer became unbearble.  Thank GOD for Ressie Johnson who stepped up and cared for Elbeert as he did for Jimmy!
Survivors are:
Sons: Darius Shands,  Demarco Shands  , Daughter: Hellenia Guy,  5 Grand kids, Brother: Julius Shands (Juice), Nieces: Sherridan and Dorothy Olivia, Nephews: Franzel, Ahmad, Ryan, and Juwan,  First Cousins: Harriet Battle and David Battle, Close Distant Cousin: Albert Smith, A VERY Special Friend: Ressie Johnson and a host of other family and friends.

Elbert was kind in heart and easy to talk to.  He always found the good in any situation..  LET US now inherent kindness and goodness that will inspire  someone as HE did!!!  MUCH love my brother, I'm going to miss you dearly!
